Cultural Leadership and Community in Beaver Falls

The Hispanic Cultural Center of Beaver Falls is experiencing a period of renewed dynamism under the leadership of Carolina Mojica and her husband, engineer JosuĆ© Morales. Since taking over leadership in September, they have both worked to strengthen the identity, community ties, and cultural pride of the region’s Latino families.

ā€œThis center was born out of love for our roots and the desire to create a legacy for future generations. We believe that when a Hispanic family feels valued, the entire community grows,ā€ Carolina asserted.

Located on one of Beaver Falls’ main avenues, the center has established itself as a community gathering place, a space to come together, celebrate, and promote culture. Under this new leadership, commemorative activities for Hispanic Heritage Month have been launched, as well as a schedule of workshops open to the public by prior registration.

Carolina points out that each initiative is designed to bring more Spanish-speaking families together and offer ongoing programming that reinforces a sense of belonging. Together with her husband and in close collaboration with local leaders, she continues to drive a broad and diverse cultural agenda.

ā€œHaving a Latino cultural center is much more than just having a physical space; it’s having a heart that beats to the rhythm of our roots. It’s a bridge between generations and cultures, where the children of immigrants can reconnect with their parents’ history and values, and where the entire community can learn about the richness of Latin America,ā€ the director adds.

In addition to being passionate about culture, Carolina is a life and business coach, a sustainable image consultant, a writer, and a speaker. For over a decade, she has been dedicated to empowering entrepreneurial women—especially mothers—to discover their essence and build authentic brands. In Mexico, she served as a columnist for Red de Negocios and MET Editorial, and actively participated in AMEXME to promote female leadership and cultural roots. She is currently a member of AICI (Association of Image Consultants International).

Carolina has recently published her bilingual children’s book El Ropero de la Abuela Lupita, a work that honors the memory of her own grandmother. It is the first in a series of bilingual children’s stories whose dual purpose is to preserve culture for new generations and to introduce English-speaking readers to the richness of Hispanic countries.

ā€œEach book I’ve created is born from a personal experience and a deep desire to serve. I have new titles in development, both for adults and for children. My inspiration comes from my family, my faith, and my commitment to the Hispanic community. As long as there are stories to tell, I will keep writing,ā€ Mojica emphasized.

Other titles he has published include:

  • ā€œEl arte de vestir a la mexicanaā€ (ā€œThe Art of Dressing the Mexican Wayā€), recognized in the United States at the International Latino Book Awards
  • ā€œMamÔ… raĆces que trascienden, alas que impulsan” (Mom… roots that transcend, wings that propel),Ā a tribute to motherhood and family legacy
  • ā€œMamĆ” Networker,ā€ to inspire women to start businesses with purpose.

With vision, discipline, and a deep connection to their roots, Carolina Mojica and her husband JosuƩ Morales are solidifying the Hispanic Cultural Center as an essential space for the Latino community of western Pennsylvania in Beaver Falls.

ā€œThe Center is a symbol of hope, identity, and unity.ā€ We want every person who walks through its doors to feel that they belong, that their story matters, and that their voice can inspire others. Every contribution, big or small, is essential to building a space where culture thrives and families grow closer,ā€ she shared.

The Beaver Cultural Center opens its doors to all who wish to join its mission. You can participate by attending workshops, events, and activities; volunteering in reading, art, or music programs; sharing your talent to enrich the community; and contributing donations or partnerships that expand its impact.
