Phipps Conservatory will come alive with color, music, and tradition on Saturday, February 21, as it hosts its 29th annual Lunar New Year celebration in partnership with The CASTP Organization. Set beneath the Conservatory’s iconic glasshouse, this beloved annual event invites visitors of all ages to experience the beauty and cultural richness of the Chinese Lunar New Year.
The celebration kicks off with a vibrant Dragon and Lion Dance in the Palm Court, filling the space with energy, rhythm, and symbolism meant to bring good fortune for the year ahead. Throughout the day, guests can enjoy graceful ballet performances in the Broderie Room and listen as the sounds of traditional flutes and drums echo through the glasshouse.
In addition to performances, the event features a variety of local food and craft vendors, offering delicious bites and handcrafted items inspired by Asian culture. Educational resources will also be available for those interested in learning more about the history, meaning, and traditions behind the Lunar New Year.
As a special bonus, visitors can explore Phipps’ seasonal exhibition, Orchid and Tropical Bonsai Show: Blooming with Love, adding even more beauty to an already unforgettable experience.
