ALPFA Pittsburgh has announced Yazmin Infante Peña as its new President, marking a new chapter for the professional organization dedicated to empowering Latino leaders and fostering community connection.
Infante Peña brings both academic and professional experience to the role. She graduated from Allegheny College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in Spanish. She currently works as a Document Manager for the Office of International Education at Carnegie Mellon University while pursuing a master’s degree in Public Management at Heinz College.
Her leadership journey within ALPFA Pittsburgh began last year when she joined the board as Director of Women of ALPFA. She later served as Executive Vice President, working alongside former president and current Board Advisor Albert Garcia.
Born and raised in New York City, Infante Peña moved to Pittsburgh nine years ago. She is the daughter of Dominican immigrants and credits ALPFA Pittsburgh with helping her find a sense of belonging while navigating her bicultural identity in a new city.
“ALPFA is more than a professional organization; it’s a community that celebrates your background, embraces who you are, and surrounds you with a network of professionals who genuinely get you,” she shared in her message to members.
As President, Infante Peña says she is committed to creating inclusive spaces where members see themselves represented in leadership and feel supported in their professional growth. Her goals include strengthening community ties, expanding professional networks, and empowering members with opportunities for upward mobility.
ALPFA Pittsburgh plans to host a series of programs and events throughout the year and invites both new and returning members to participate.
