Annia Aleman Joins Pitt’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence

The University of Pittsburgh’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence (IEE) has named Annia Aleman as its new Associate Director and Director of the Pitt Small Business Development Center (SBDC), starting December 16, 2024.

Aleman brings over a decade of experience in innovation, business strategy, and leadership development across government, nonprofit, and business sectors. “Annia’s expertise in innovation and economic development will be invaluable to our entrepreneurial community,” said Bob Stein, Executive Director of the IEE.

Previously, Aleman served as Innovation Director at Ascender, where she supported entrepreneurs in scaling their businesses. She also spearheaded initiatives like *PGH Lab* at the City of Pittsburgh, connecting startups with government to pilot new solutions.

Recognized by the Pittsburgh Business Times and The Incline, Aleman holds degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and Chatham University. Her leadership is expected to enhance Pitt’s role in empowering small businesses and driving economic growth in the region.
