Celebrating 5 Years of Pittsburgh Latino Magazine

0 821

This month, in Pittsburgh Latino Magazine, we are celebrating with great joy our fifth anniversary. We want to take a moment to thank our community, readers, collaborators, and allies who have been a fundamental part of this journey. Without their support, this project that we started with so much passion in March 2020 wouldn’t be what it is today.

When we launched our digital magazine in the midst of a pandemic, our vision was clear: to connect Pittsburgh’s Latino community, provide access to relevant information, and create opportunities for our people to discover important events, resources, and voices in the region. What began as a dream in 2017 finally took shape and has grown in ways we never imagined.

In the fall of 2023, we took a significant step by launching our print version, bringing our stories and content to a broader audience. And in November 2024, we made another major leap with the launch of our podcast, expanding our platforms to continue sharing stories that matter.

Over these five years, we have been honored with several awards that reflect the impact and quality of our work. Some of these achievements include:

  • National Association of Hispanic Publications Awards (Jose Martí Publishing Awards 2024):

    • Bronze in Editorial Writing (National Category)

    • Bronze in Magazine Design (National Category)

    • Silver in Marketing for our Media Kit (National Category)

  • Recognition at the PA Latino Convention Awards 2022: Our founder and president, María Manuatou, was selected among the “Top 100 Latino Leaders in Pennsylvania.”

None of this would have been possible without the support of key organizations and individuals who believed in our mission. We deeply appreciate the support from the Pittsburgh Hispanic Development Corporation (PHDC), Brent Rondon from SBDC, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Casa San José, Latino Community Center, Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, Ascender, ALPFA, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, and Duquesne University. We also want to recognize Pittsburgh Media Partnership and PublicSource, along with many others who have collaborated with us or supported us in some way.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the love and unconditional support of my family, who have been with me every step of the way.

We look to the future with enthusiasm and commitment, ready to continue growing and serving our community. Thank you for being part of our story and accompanying us on this journey! Here’s to many more years ahead!

With gratitude,

María Manautou, CEO
