Presente Pittsburgh Media — publisher of Pittsburgh Latino Magazine — was recently chosen as one of the top applicants for the Minority, Women, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Certification program offered through the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation. The magazine, Pittsburgh’s first bilingual Latino publication, was recognized for its dedication to empowering and celebrating the Latinx community in Western Pennsylvania.
The MWDBE Certification program aims to empower women-, minority-, and disabled-owned businesses by funding and guiding three Latina-owned businesses in the Pittsburgh area. According to the PMAHCC website, through the certification program, the chosen businesses receive “comprehensive support, services, and vital resources to catalyze their growth and development.” They are also featured in the #LatinoPittsburgh Digital Speaker Series, in which they can highlight their experiences within the Latino Business Initiative.
The certification program works to provide further opportunities to the chosen businesses. Upon completing the program, PPM and Pittsburgh Latino Magazine will have access to a variety of different opportunities, which will help it grow and develop as a publication. Some of the perks of being a member include professional development support, access to industry-specific resources, and valuable networking opportunities.
It is an honor for Presente Pittsburgh Media to be accepted into the MWDBE Certification program, so that it can continue to help empower Latino people in Pittsburgh and beyond. Without a doubt, this marks an exciting future for Pittsburgh Latino Magazine.
