PITTSBURGH (August 5, 2025) – Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh (MOMPGH) is calling on healthcare professionals and community members to volunteer at its annual free dental, vision, and hearing clinic, taking place October 24-25, 2025, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. This large-scale event provides vital care to hundreds of people who cannot afford or access these services—and it cannot happen without volunteers.

MOMPGH is urgently seeking dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, nurses, physicians, pharmacists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, audiologists, lab technicians, radiology professionals, and general volunteers to serve the thousands of patients expected over the two-day clinic.

Dental professionals have an additional incentive: up to three hours of Continuing Education Credits are available to dentists, hygienists, and certified dental assistants who participate, thanks to a 2023 Pennsylvania law recognizing charitable volunteer work for continuing education.

In 2024, nearly 2,000 volunteers helped MOMPGH provide over $2.3 million in free services to 1,676 individuals in need. Volunteers performed 9,374 dental procedures, provided 693 eye exams and 401 hearing evaluations, and distributed 552 eyeglasses and 586 hearing aids—all at no cost to patients.

“This clinic is about people helping people,” says Keith Young, MOMPGH Board Member. “Whether you’re relieving someone’s chronic dental pain, helping them hear for the first time in years, or giving them glasses to see their loved ones clearly, the experience is unforgettable. Our volunteers not only change lives—they often find the experience changes their own.”

No clinical experience is required to serve as a general volunteer, and these roles are essential to the event’s success. Volunteers assist with check-in, hospitality, patient support, and logistics. All volunteers receive training and meals during the event.

Volunteering at MOMPGH is a powerful way to give back and strengthen the community. Since 2017, MOMPGH has delivered $9.2 million in free care to nearly 9,000 patients.
