Why did they create the station? And why inside the supermarket? For 4 years it has been located inside the Las Palmas Supermarket of the IGA, from there “Radio Las Palmas” is broadcast.

Radio is an idea that already existed within the Berumen family’s plans for the Latino community in Pittsburgh. At first, they made an improvised booth that only broadcast a program on Facebook Live twice a week. Although it was successful, it was a project that lasted a short time, but that experience left many lessons learned and the idea of carrying out a radio project was maintained with the certainty that it would come to fruition at any moment.

The businesses were growing and it was necessary to open a marketing department. This department began operating in October 2023, where one of the main ideas was to resume a program in Las Palmas on Facebook Live, but having important data from Latinos who live in Pittsburgh and which takes place daily in Las Palmas supermarkets, We came up with the main strategy of placing speakers in all supermarkets and making a mix of musical styles that would be pleasant for the community, with live programs throughout the week of different styles.

When did it start? The transmission began in October 2023.

What is the format? The format is by App, anyone in different parts of the world can download the “Radio Las Palmas” app for free on their cell phone and enjoy our daily programming.

Who are the main DJs? We have three DJs. They are DJ Matteo Matos, Dj Negro Serrano, and DJ Bless.

How is it different from other stations? Each station has its own style, and the public decides what they like. We focus on listening to what our audience wants. We have a very diverse team with experience in different countries which makes us stronger. Everything we do is well thought out for the Pittsburgh community that so deserves a great Latin radio station. We feel proud to be part of the growing community.

How has the public reception been? People are very curious once they notice the supermarket radio booth. It allows them to witness our hosts’ creativity live in person. We want each customer who enters Las Palmas to enjoy a different experience and, for our audience who listens to it on their phone, to enjoy our programs
and their song requests. We like to please them.

Can you share your contact for promotions and announcements? You can communicate with the station via WhatsApp at 412-919-9998 and our business number is 469-316-0390.

Anything specific you want to announce for the March – April – May period? We are always announcing events and many surprises. For those months specifically we have very a few things in the works, so stay tuned with Radio Las Palmas.
