Changing your driver’s license from another state for a PA license is easy. Here is a summary of the process:
To apply, you must go in person to one of the official centers for driver’s licenses – PennDot Driver’s License Center. You must present: Your out-of-state driver’s license (valid or expired six months or less; Proof of residence such as arrival contract or utility bill; Your Social Security card.
All documents must show the same name and date of birth. You must complete the license application form and a vision test may be required.
Once all the information is validated, you will be able to pay the fee for your new license. Your photo will be taken on site and you will then receive the PA license.
Although a knowledge test is not required for new residents, you should familiarize yourself with PA traffic laws. A former resident returning to PA must meet the same identification and residency requirements as one who has never been a resident of the state.
