Flamenco Pittsburgh brings the passion and energy of flamenco to the city with a weekend of performances and workshops from March 28-30, 2025. The festivities begin Friday, March 28, with an intimate Flamenco Concert from 8:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Third Floor Portal at James Simon Sculpture Studio (305 Gist St, Pittsburgh, PA, 15219).
Flamenco Pittsburgh’s Artistic Director Carolina Loyola-Garcia will introduce the improvisational nature of flamenco and the dynamic interaction between singer, guitarist, and dancer. The event features performances by renowned musician and singer Marija Temo (Milwaukee, WI) and flamenco guitarist Alex Jordan (Los Angeles, CA). (18+ event)
On Saturday, March 29, two dynamic workshops offer deeper learning with guest artists Marija Temo and Alex Jordan:
WORKSHOP #1 (11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) – “Introduction to Flamenco Music and Dance” at Alloy Dance Studios (5530 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA, 15206). Open to guitarists and dancers of all levels.
WORKSHOP #2 (3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.) – “Flamenco Dance Technique and Choreography” at Flamenco Pittsburgh’s Studio in Highland Park (830 N Euclid Ave, Pittsburgh, PA, 15206). For dancers with at least one year of flamenco training (limited to 10 participants).
The weekend culminates Sunday, March 30, with an electrifying Evening Tablao Flamenco at The Original Pittsburgh Winery (2809 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA, 15222). Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:00 p.m. This dynamic venue will showcase celebrated flamenco dancer Edwin Aparicio (Washington, D.C.), singer Marija Temo, and guitarist Alex Jordan, alongside local musicians and ensemble dancers from Flamenco Pittsburgh (21+ event).
